Back For Round 2: Ogden High School
Three years ago, Ogden High had only 14 athletes competing in all girl, but just a few short years later the program has grown tremendously and now has 38 girls and 10 boys that make up the large varsity coed and game day team.
Last year at UCA Salt Lake, the team competed in the small coed division and placed first place against Park City High School. This year the Tigers are pushing skills to the limit as they work to improve their overall stunting ability.
"We are going for clean and collegiate," head coach Kristie Williamson said. "We have some of the harder stunts around and I'm hoping we hit all of our skills to continue to push the envelope on our stunting."
A school's cheer is one of the most important aspects of their routine. This season OHS is really pushing to bring infectious spirit to the mat during their cheer section.
"We have lots going on in our cheer section," Williamson said. "You can expect to see poms, flags, megs, signs, stunts, and tumbling. We hope to really catch the audience's attention and have them joining in to cheer with us."
The OHS cheerleaders always look forward to performing the second half of the routine. Their upbeat dance includes visual formation changes and high-flying baskets before moving into their exciting end pyramid.
On top of working with their feeder program to build their squad's skills, the Tigers participate in community service, organizing dances and pep rallies, and practicing year-round to represent our school at games and competition.
