Over the years, the Bryan Clay Invitational has established itself as one of the premier track and field meets of the regular season.

In years past, their have been records, national leads and all-around dominant performances from the 800m all the way up to the 10K.

That was no different this year.

Parker Valby Smashes NCAA 10K Record in Debut

Let's be honest. Did we expect anything less from the most dominant collegian in the sport right now?

After becoming the fastest ever over 5,000m (14:52.79), Parker Valby shifted her sights on the 10,000m, a distance the four-time NCAA champion had never dabbled in before last weekend.

Once the gun went off, it didn't take long for the Florida star and the pacer to leave the field behind, formulating what would end up being a two-minute gap between herself and runner-up Jenna Hutchins of BYU.

Valby came through the 5K mark at 15:30 on the dot, before churning out a solo 15:20 to obliterate the previous NCAA record of 31:18.07, once held by Iowa State's Lisa Koll.

Not only did Valby break the longstanding record, but she also made unprecedented history, becoming the first collegian woman to ever run under 31:00.

With the SEC Outdoor Championships just three weeks away, Valby has the opportunity to run any event she chooses, and all we can do is wait on the edge of our seat.

Colin Sahlman Upsets Defending 1500m Champ For NCAA No. 2 All-Time

Out of high school, Colin Sahlman was one of the greatest high school runners in the sport's history.

Whether it was his cross country 5K national record of 14:03.29, or his No. 3 all-time mile performance of 3:56.24, he could do it all.

Sahlman has been regarded as one of the next great American milers, and at just 20 years old, it's safe to say he's still on schedule. Sahlman took on a deep field in the men's 1500m Invite at Bryan Clay, going up against guys like Washington's Nathan Green, the defending 1,500m NCAA champion, and Craig Engels, the 2019 U.S. national winner.

Throughout the race, Sahlman stayed pretty patient while maintaining contact with the front group until the bell rang, before making his move to eventually take the lead alongside Green.

Sahlman went on to pull away for the win in 3:33.96, which was the second-fastest collegiate 1500m in history.

Gracie Hyde Leaves Azusa With Two NCAA DII Records

Ever since Gracie Hyde made the move to Adams State, she's been nothing short of phenomenal.

Since her debut as a Grizzly in January, Hyde quickly made her presence known amongst the NCAA Division II ranks, winning both the mile and 3,000m at NCAAs, all while also anchoring the  team to a national title in the DMR.

Most recently, Hyde made the trip out to Southern California to take part in the elite fields at Bryan Clay and clearly made the most of it when it was all said and done.

Hyde got her weekend off to a historic start in the 3,000m steeplechase, finishing runner-up to Lexy Halladay-Lowry and crossing the line in 9:28.17, which was a new Division II national record.

What makes this even more impressive was the fact that Hyde's personal best was 9:57.88 from 2021, meaning she took off roughly half of a minute in her Adams State steeple debut.

Hyde followed up her steeple success with an 11 second personal best in the 1,500m, as the senior ran 4:08.95 to become the first-ever D2 woman under 4:10 in the event. Hyde broke Seattle Pacific's Jessica Pixler's 14-year-old record by over two seconds.

Hyde's range is truly one-of-a-kind, and at this point it seems she can compete in and excel in any event she chooses.
