180+ Teams To Compete Across The Small Varsity Divisions At NHSCC

Small Varsity DI and DII are the largest divisions at the 2023 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship and we are just days away from watching the exciting divisions take the mat in Orlando!

Small Varsity teams consist of 5-15 members on the mat at a time and over the years these competitive divisions have included some of the most talented teams to take the stage at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

This season, more than 180 teams will compete in Prelims between Small Varsity DI and DII. For each division, teams will be broken out into six separate preliminary groups. After Prelims teams will advance to the Semi-Finals where there will be two rounds!

While the championship will begin with more than 180 teams battling it out in the Small Varsity divisions, the field will be narrowed down to the top 31 teams for Sunday's final competition.

Prelims for Small Varsity DI will kick off the day Friday, February 10th at 8 AM ET in Arena West. Small Varsity DII Prelims will begin at 3:45 PM ET on Friday in Arena South.

Small Varsity Division I

1st - Madison Central High School

In 2022, Madison Central topped Small Varsity Division I with an event score of 96 to be named your back-to-back UCA National Champions! Will the Kentucky team take the top spot in the division for the third year in a row?

2nd - Mater Dei High School

Small Varsity Division II

1st - Pikeville High School

The Bluegrass state showed-out in 2022 as Buckhorn High School from Buckhorn, Kentucky took second place in the competitive division with a Final score of 91.4.

Rounding out the top three is Plainedge High School from Massapequa, New York. The team executed a routine full of impressive skills in Finals and took third place with a score of 88.
