Insider Info: 2024 Aloha Baltimore Showdown

The Aloha Baltimore Showdown, part of the Aloha Spirit Championships calendar, returns to Charm City in 2024, and Varsity TV will be there to provide live coverage of the event.

The competition will take place at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena, a mid-size facility on the campus of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and bring a little bit of the Hawaiian culture and spirit to the East Coast winter.

Since 2001, Aloha Spirit events have been bringing a bit of Hawaiian magic to states across the country, and that’ll be the same in 2024, with visits to Massachusetts, Tennessee, Oregon, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Arizona, Virginia, Indiana, New York, Florida and Arkansas.

At each event, competitors and guests often dress in luau-themed attire, and the awards also share the Hawaiian theme.

Enjoy complete coverage of the event, a one-day competition in this instance, as standout teams from Division I and Division II go head-to-head with their sights set on obtaining points to The League and a bid to one of the prestigious end-of-season championships!

What To Know About The Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena

The Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena earned a name change in 2021 when the Chesapeake Employers’ Insurance Company and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, announced a long-term strategic partnership.

The Aloha Baltimore Showdown returns to the 6,000-seat venue, which also is home to the UMBC men’s and women’s basketball teams and the women’s volleyball squad, but frequently welcomes a variety of events – graduations, concerts, trade shows, speakers, banquets and more.

The League by Varsity All Star

The League by Varsity All Star is the official ranking system for the sport of All Star cheerleading, changing the conversation from “Who won the weekend?” to “Who ranks at the top this season?”

Every team that competes at a Varsity All Star Event this season will be included in The League by Varsity All Star.

Team rankings are determined by the Points System displayed here. At each Varsity All Star event your team competes, your team will earn points based on the assigned event and placement point value.

At the end of the season, your five best Varsity All Star event scores will be used to calculate your final rank.

In total, 120 winners will be recognized from first to third place across each region. One champion will be crowned in each of the five regions across the eight eligible divisions, meaning 40 champions will be awarded in total. Champions will win cash and prizes!
