What To Know About The Arizona Athletic Grounds

The Athletic Championships Mesa Nationals visits the Arizona Athletic Grounds (formerly the Legacy Sports Center) in Mesa, Arizona, again in 2024. It’s the same amazing complex the competitors enjoyed in 2023, but with new owners and a new name.

The changes were announced in mid-December 2023.

The sprawling facility, which opened in January 2022 and is one of the largest youth-oriented sports facilities in North America, covers 320 acres and welcomes more than 4 million visitors per year.

While the complex is geared more toward youth and adult sporting events and competitions, the grounds have welcomed countless other events, from farmers markets to holiday fairs.

The property includes a gaming center with nearly 100 arcade games, an esports venue, 57 indoor volleyball courts, 41 pickleball courts (including a 2,000-seat stadium), 24 soccer/football/lacrosse fields, 22 futsal (indoor soccer) courts, 19 basketball courts, 12 beach volleyball courts (including a 1,500-seat stadium), eight baseball/softball fields and fitness centers for sports performance, wellness, gymnastics, dance and cheer.

There really are few facilities in the world like AAG, and for that reason, there’s plenty of parking and room for buses, too.
