What To Know About The Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex

The Athletic Championships Birmingham Nationals returns to the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2024, and the area should provide plenty of fun and entertainment for the competitors and their guests.

The BJCC is a one-stop opportunity for the teams to compete, dine, enjoy the Uptown Entertainment District or check out historic Birmingham. Or all of the above.

The complex includes two exhibition halls and three entertainment venues, including the state’s largest arena and concert hall, and Alabama’s largest hotel (757 rooms).

The 2024 Athletic Championships Birmingham Nationals will be held in the North and East Exhibition Halls.

The multi-purpose Protective Stadium is home to the University of Alabama at Birmingham football team, the Birmingham Legion FC (professional soccer), the USFL’s Birmingham Stallions (professional football) and the annual 76 Birmingham Bowl (college football).

The recently renovated Legacy Arena welcomes concerts, shows and sporting events and can seat 18,000. It’s also home to the Birmingham Squadron of the NBA G-League.

The BJCC Concert Hall & Theatre also is versatile. The Concert Hall can seat more than 2,800 guests for concerts, shows and productions of all kinds. The Theatre is more intimate and can seat 1,000.

In late 2022, Birmingham introduced City Walk BHAM, an outdoor space that serves as a meeting place for guests and locals alike and helps celebrate and connect many aspects of the city.

The area includes art, lighting, food trucks, a skate park, playground, pickleball courts, an amphitheater, roller rink and areas to socialize and have a meal or drink.

Speaking of food and drink, HERE are some suggestions, in case there’s time to step away from the competition.

HERE are directions and parking information for the BJCC, as well as all the questions frequently asked about the property.
