What To Know About The Santander Arena

The Cheer Power Reading Showdown heads to the Santander Arena in downtown Reading, Pennsylvania, in 2024, and it’s one of nearly 3,000 events the venue has hosted since opening in 2001.

The Santander property also includes the Santander Performing Arts Center, a more intimate venue that hosts shows, concerts, events and more, with a history that dates back to the 1870s.

For those who might be in town early, the Harlem Globetrotters will be taking over the Santander Arena on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.

On Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m., the Reading Symphony Orchestra will be playing at the Santander Performing Arts Center.

Reading is in southeast Pennsylvania, about 60 miles from well-known Philadelphia, which drastically increases the number of things competitors and their guests can add to their itineraries, should time allow.

Reading’s history began in the mid-1700s, and it has served roles as a military base, in the iron industry, in transporting cargo via waterway and later in the railroad industry. The area also is known for farming and agriculture, though there’s still a fair balance with industrial life.

The general area of Berks Country, which includes Reading, Lancaster, Hershey and the Lehigh Valley, offers a variety of things to see and do – from the countryside to the main cities/downtowns themselves.

Of course, with the area’s rich history, there’s going to be an amazing and eclectic food scene, with a number of things you can’t get anywhere else.

First, is the iconic cheesesteak, invented in 1930 by Pat Olivieri of Pat’s King of Steaks. There are rivalries in town a century later, with many places laying claim to having the best around. Why not spend a day deciding for yourself?

If there’s still room for more, grab some soft pretzels, roast pork, water ice, tomato pie, pork roll or one of the countless hoagie sandwiches in the area.

The League by Varsity All Star is the official ranking system for the sport of All Star cheerleading, changing the conversation from “Who won the weekend?” to “Who ranks at the top this season?”

Every team that competes at a Varsity All Star Event this season will be included in The League by Varsity All Star.

Team rankings are determined by the Points System displayed here. At each Varsity All Star event your team competes, your team will earn points based on the assigned event and placement point value.

At the end of the season, your five best Varsity All Star event scores will be used to calculate your final rank.
