Last Week In Recruiting: April 1-7

The transfer portal continues to be the biggest talk of the offseason. Many athletes have continued to enter the portal each day since it opened in late March. The most notable entries last week were All-American Yaraslau Salvikouski and national qualifiers Tommy Asky, Ethan Oakley, and Max Hale. While not an AA or national qualifier, Michigan's Rylan Rogers entered the portal as well. Rogers was the #12 overall recruit in the class of 2022 but hasn't been able to crack the post season starting lineup for Michigan yet.

The biggest announced transfer last week was 2X All-American Jacob Cardenas from Cornell to Michigan. Cardenas had used up all of his eligibility at Ivy League institution Cornell and had to transfer to use his extra year of eligibility.

In coaching news, Penn announced that Matt Valenti will take over as head coach of the wrestling team starting in April of 2025. Current head coach Roger Reina will remain the head coach in 2024-25, culminating in Penn's co-hosting of the NCAA Wrestling Championships at the Wells Fargo Center, and will serve as head coach emeritus for his final year of coaching in 2025-26.
