The packed 2024 UCA regional schedule is flying by, already giving athletes from coast to coast the opportunity to get on stage and attempt to earn a bid for the 2025 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship!

The 2024 UCA Colorado Regional on November 9 is one of a handful of events that will make up an action-packed week in competitive cheer, with this competition bringing teams back to the Mile High City.

Teams will get to experience a new venue as this event will be held at Denver’s National Western Complex.

The Colorado Regional is one of almost 50 regional events facilitated across the country each year by UCA, along with the annual UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

The large schedule means teams can compete close to home, and maybe more frequently, while keeping expenses down during their quest to qualify for the season-ending events.

What To Know About The National Western Complex

It’s a familiar city, but a new venue, as the 2024 UCA Colorado Regional brings competitors back to Denver, where they’ll now get to compete at the National Western Complex.

The expansive National Western Complex has plenty of room for events and activities. The property includes an events center, multiple exhibit halls, and an arena. 

The primary use of the facility is for live entertainment – rodeos, livestock and cattle shows, and western exhibits – but the buildings are versatile enough and flexible in their seating configurations to be able to host events of different types and sizes. 

The premier event, however, is the National Western Stock Show, which runs each January and has made its home there since 1906. 

The National Western Complex is located across from the historic Denver Coliseum, which means visitors to the area have double the chance of finding something entertaining to see or do when there’s some downtime from the cheer competition.

Things To Do In Denver

During the week the Universal Cheerleaders Association is in town, the Denver area will be hosting the Denver Film Festival, Denver Veterans Day Run, Georgetown Bighorn Sheep Festival, Denver Fashion Week, and the Warren Miller Film Tour. 

And, depending on when you plan to arrive in town, the NBA’s Denver Nuggets will be in the middle of a five-game homestand (from Nov. 2-10). Hockey fans are in luck, too – the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche also will be playing at home, taking the ice on Nov. 9 and Nov. 11.

It also would be hard to think about Colorado without picturing the Rocky Mountains, so exploring the mountains, Pikes Peak, Echo Lake, and any of the area’s countless other outdoor spaces definitely should make the short list of things to try to do – weather permitting, of course.

If staying closer to the venue and downtown Denver is required, there are many opportunities for bus or walking tours, a food or craft beer tour, bike or scooter trips around town, sporting events, historic landmarks, delicious meals, art, shopping, outdoor adventures, and more. There’s definitely something for everyone’s taste.
