Another two-event weekend brings the best young cheerleaders to Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, which will be hosting the 2024 JAMfest San Antonio Classic on Nov. 23 and the 2024 UCA Southwest Regional on Nov. 24.

The UCA Southwest Regional will bring school and recreational teams into the spotlight to compete in a variety of divisions, along with special Game Day performances, too.

The busy Universal Cheerleaders Association schedule and variety of locations helps add to the five decades of UCA tradition, which is built on competitions focused on combining the motivation and excitement of cheerleading and the entertainment of high-level skills and athleticism.

The Southwest Regional is one of almost 50 regional events facilitated across the country each year by UCA, along with the annual UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

By having so many options, teams are able to compete close to home, and maybe more frequently, while keeping expenses down during their quest to qualify for the season-ending events.

Enjoy complete coverage of the 2024 UCA Southwest Regional, a one-day event, as school and recreational teams go head-to-head with their sights set on a coveted championship and potentially earning spots in the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in February 2025.

What To Know About The Freeman Coliseum

The 2024 UCA Southwest Regional returns to San Antonio, this time visiting the popular Freeman Coliseum, which already is bustling with cheer activity early in the 2024-2025 season.

The Freeman Coliseum is the former home of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and the San Antonio Spurs home games, all of which now happen at the adjacent the Frost Bank Center.

The Coliseum itself, constructed in 1949, offers 32,000 square feet of space for events and 10,000 parking spaces for competitors, family and friends. Its versatility allows for sporting events, concerts, trade shows, the circus, bull riding and more, with seating up to almost 12,000, depending on the event.

The property, just northeast of downtown San Antonio, also includes the Freeman Exhibition Hall, and that provides another 170,000 square feet for additional events and activities.

With the holiday season now upon us, those in town for the UCA Southwest Regional can make the short walk to the Freeman Expo Hall, which will be hosting the Christmas Showcase on Nov. 23-24.

The Spurs also will be in town Nov. 23 and will be hosting the Golden State Warriors at 7:30 p.m. local time, in case any of the competitors or their supporters want to escape from the nerves and stress that may come with the Southwest Regional.

If you only have time to sneak out for a bite to eat, there are hundreds of restaurants within three miles of the venue.
