Insider Info: 2024 UCA/UDA Smoky Mountain Championship

The weekend of Dec. 7-8 will be a busy one at the Sevierville Convention Center in Sevierville, Tennessee, which is hosting a pair of high-profile events.

First, the 2024 UCA/UDA Smoky Mountain Championship will bring school and All Star cheer and dance teams to the Smoky Mountains for school and recreational action on Dec. 7.

At the same time, the 2024 UCA Sevierville Showdown will see Division I and Division II teams on stage across both days in Tennessee.

Whether it’s the cheer or the dance that gets you to tune in for the weekend, you won’t want to miss a minute of the action, all of which will be broadcast live on Varsity TV!

The Universal Cheerleaders Association was founded 50 years ago with the goal of bringing together the motivation and excitement of cheerleading and the entertainment of high-level skills and athleticism.

Now a leader in the industry, the UCA is responsible for approximately 50 virtual, regional, and All Star events each year, along with the annual UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

The efforts of the Universal Dance Association continue to prepare high school and collegiate dancers for high-level competition and the biggest stages, while more than 20 competitions across the country each year allow teams to choose locations and events that work best for them.

Enjoy complete coverage of the Smoky Mountain Championship, as teams go head-to-head with their sights set on a coveted championship, points to The Varsity Cheer League by Varsity All Star and potentially earning spots in the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship or UDA National Dance Team Championship in Florida in February 2025.

What To Know About The Sevierville Convention Center

The Sevierville Convention Center is functional and versatile, and there’s clearly enough space for multiple events to be happening simultaneously.

The exhibit hall offers more than 108,000 square feet of space and can be split into two separate spaces if needed.

Ballrooms, meeting rooms, a rotunda, on-site catering, a food court, and ample parking make the venue versatile and convenient for events and guests – there are even two golf courses right there, too, though that could be hit or miss in early December.

Plus, you’ll be spoiled by the views of the Smoky Mountains.

The Varsity Cheer League by Varsity All Star

The Varsity Cheer League by Varsity All Star is the official ranking system for the sport of All Star cheerleading, changing the conversation from “Who won the weekend?” to “Who ranks at the top this season?”

Every team that competes at a Varsity All Star event this season will be included in The Varsity Cheer League.

Team rankings are determined by the points system displayed here. At each Varsity All Star event your team competes, your team will earn points based on the assigned event and placement point value.

At the end of the season, your six best Varsity All Star event scores will be used to calculate your final rank.

In total, 128 winners will be recognized from first to third place across each region.

One champion will be crowned in each of the five regions across the eight eligible divisions and two League 6 conferences, meaning 42 championships will be awarded in total. Champions will win cash and prizes!
