The 2025 Aloha Concord Showdown is one of more than a dozen events on the schedule for the Aloha Spirit Championships this season and one of two scheduled for February. The other is taking place near Pittsburgh the same day.

The Concord Showdown will take place Feb. 2 and bring All Star cheer teams to the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center in Concord, North Carolina. 

Varsity TV will be there to provide live coverage of the entire event!

Since 2001, Aloha Spirit events have been bringing a bit of Hawaiian flair to each competition. At the luau-themed events, there is an emphasis on “Ohana” or family, and even the awards share the same sentiment. 

Another special feature of each event is a 3-foot custom trophy known as the KA MAHALO Award. It is given to the team that exemplifies the spirit of the islands and displays above-and-beyond sportsmanship throughout the competition.

What To Know About The Cabarrus Arena & Events Center

The Aloha Concord Showdown again will be held at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center in Concord, North Carolina, which opened in 2002, just in time to host the 50th edition of the Cabarrus County Fair, now the premier event on the calendar.

The property includes an arena, event center, two-room multi-purpose hall, smaller meeting rooms and an 11-acre outdoor midway.

The venues remain busy most of the year, hosting more than 150 events across more than 300 days – everything from meetings to trade shows, dinner parties, sporting events, animal shows, social events, consumer shows and other entertainment. 

Cabarrus Arena & Events Center is about 20 miles from downtown Charlotte and 30 miles from Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

It’s very possible that the history of Concord, North Carolina, might offer enough to keep visitors entertained and busy when there’s some time off from the competition.

The Varsity Cheer League by Varsity All Star

The Varsity Cheer League by Varsity All Star is the official ranking system for the sport of All Star cheerleading, changing the conversation from “Who won the weekend?” to “Who ranks at the top this season?”

Every team that competes at a Varsity All Star event this season will be included in The Varsity Cheer League.

Team rankings are determined by the points system displayed here. At each Varsity All Star event your team competes, your team will earn points based on the assigned event and placement point value.

At the end of the season, your six best Varsity All Star event scores will be used to calculate your final rank.

In total, 128 winners will be recognized from first to third place across each region. 

One champion will be crowned in each of the five regions across the eight eligible divisions and two League 6 conferences, meaning 42 championships will be awarded in total. Champions will win cash and prizes!
