Training teams in two locations in the UK, Coventry and Cambridge, Coventry Dynamite has a program that's grown in both size and skill over the years. In 2015, the senior large coed team, Ignite, received a partial-paid bid to Cheerleading Worlds at JAMfest Europe. The full program of nine teams will compete for titles in Liverpool, and they’ve got bids on the brain.

Champion Dance & Cheer
Coach Perspective: Lisa Tausney
Traveling from Glasgow, Scotland, the champion program is no stranger to fierce competition. Eight-year Worlds veterans, these all-star athletes are talented and well-rounded. Out of five dance teams, three will compete in three different divisions, and three cheer teams will also contend for a title. The tiny team is full of rising stars, and is always a crowd favorite.

Our main focus is to push for zero deductions and create life memories with our teammates. - Andy Wicks, Zodiac All StarsJAMfest Europe is just a few days away, and we caught up with three programs that took home some of the top placements and bids in 2016: Coventry Dynamite, Champion Dance & Cheer and Zodiac All Stars. They're returning to Liverpool this weekend with hopes of taking home titles and bids to compete in 2017. Here’s a closer look at the programs and their journey.

We put on a show. We encourage excessive performance and energy within our program and our aim is to provide exciting, clean, crisp cheerleading. After competing at Cheerleading Worlds last year in Orlando, the Coventry program had the highest U.K. placements in both of their divisions. Ready to return in 2017, the teams are hard at work on their full arounds, tick tocks and elite tumbling skills. Despite a few setbacks, the teams plan to “put on a show” at the event this weekend.

Our program is like one big family. We do not specialize in any particular genre of all star. We try to make sure our athletes are all around good cheerleaders and dancers.Inspired by U.S. dance teams like Pace and Energizers, Champion's dance teams aim to match their sharpness, motions and execution. That shouldn’t be an obstacle for the team, which has demonstrated a strong history of performances, In 2015, Senior Hip Hop received an at-large bid to Dance Worlds, and Senior Pom received a partial-paid bid! This year, all the teams are looking to make their mark and earn bids to compete in the U.S. competitions in the spring.

We learned so much about ourselves and how to cope with pressure on the world stage. Our training since competing at Worlds has increased tremendously and we are extremely proud to be a good representation of U.K. cheerleading at this level.Pleased by the progress U.K. cheerleading has made in the past few years, Zodiac plans to continue their legacy of excellence.
