UK Cheer Takes The Mat At Big Blue Madness
The University of Kentucky cheerleaders take the mat for a show stopping performance at the annual Kentucky basketball kick off, Big Blue Madness.
It may seem like football season just started, but in Kentucky basketball is already making headlines.
Big Blue Madness hits the hardwood tonight at the University of Kentucky's Rupp Arena, and that's a big deal not only for the fans, but for the cheer and dance teams as well.
This is the first time the women's and men's basketball teams will be introduced to the public, and the UK Spirit Squad will take center stage to perform a show-stopping routine. Tickets are sold out as true blue fanatics camped out for two weeks, waiting to secure their tickets to the shindig.
This will be the first time the rookies performed in the basketball arena, and it's no ordinary game day experience.
They'll show off their spirit and skills in front of 24,000 screaming spectators, and what performance would be complete without fireworks? That's right -- there are fireworks inside Rupp Arena.
The Blue and White cheer squads are partnering up to put on an action-packed five-minute routine complete with elite stunts, tumbling, and choreography. The 22-time UCA national champs take this performance pretty seriously, as this is their first time perform a routine similar to what they'll create for nationals.
Taking the mat in front of all those screaming fans isn't easy, and this is one of the first times a focused spotlight will be on the teams. Senior cheerleader Whitney Agee told us more about the Big Blue experience.
For many of the spirit squad members and fans, this is one of their favorite performances of the year. The energy, the excitement, and the unwavering support from the crowd is unforgettable.
