The famous Penn State "whiteout" football game is quickly approaching against No. 2 Ohio State on Saturday, October 22.

Beaver Stadium is filled with 107,282 seats, and you won't find a spot of color among Penn State's fans this weekend. The famous Penn State "whiteout" football game is quickly approaching against No. 2 Ohio State, and the spirit squads are busy preparing the university to show America that Penn State has the best football program, student section, and crowd involvement in the country!
Ten years ago, Penn State's finest teamed up to brainstorm new ideas that would create more energy in their stadium at football games. They asked all of the Nittany Lions fans to wear white to the next home game to create a whiteout effect. Since then, this has become a popular tradition recognized throughout the country that fans look forward to all season. This sea of white shining under the lights has brought intimidation to the opposing teams and created extra excitement throughout Beaver Stadium -- not to mention a pretty cool photo op for fans and photographers.

Make announcements throughout home games to inform your fans on the date and theme. Penn State assistant cheerleading coach Eugene Bodden suggests using social media to promote your themed game so that all of your fans know what to wear. Leading up to the white out game, the spirit squads organize pep rallies and bring pizza to the fans that start camping out to get their spots two nights before the game.
