Last year we went behind the scenes and Beyond The Routine with California All Stars SMOED and Stingray All Stars PEACH at the 2016 NCA Nationals. With the NCA All-Star National Championship coming up in a few days in Dallas, we decided to bring you up to date on how both of these talented teams finished out 2016 and how they have been doing so far this season.
The Stingray All Stars Marietta Peach took home the legendary NCA black jackets in 2015 but fell short to Spirit of Texas last season. Since the rise of Brandon Senior Black, California All Stars SMOED hasn't won the NCA title since 2014.
The Peach Rays were the reigning Medium Senior 5 champions heading into worlds and ended as silver medalists in 2016.
After the birth of SMOED in 2011, the squad was crowned world champion four straight times from 2012-15! Unfortunately, the Small Senior Coed squad had a fall from grace in 2016 and placed sixth at The Cheerleading Worlds.
So far the Peach Rays are off to a good start in 2017. They are on a win streak after taking home first place at The MAJORS and CHEERSPORT Nationals.
SMOED has been flying under the radar this season, but its hard work hasn't gone unnoticed. The squad took home first at Spirt Sports Duel in the Desert and is sure to bring an impressive routine to the mats at NCA All-Star Nationals.
With both squads working to reclaim their NCA titles this season, they will be leaving it all on the mats at NCA All-Star Nationals in Dallas. Watch both teams LIVE on Varsity TV to see how the rest of their season unfolds.
