USA Nationals: New Team In Town, Texas State
The Texas State cheerleading team is ready to make its first debut at the 2017 USA Collegiate Championship!
Preparing to compete at USA Collegiate Championships has brought a new dynamic to the Texas State cheerleading team, and the Bobcats are enjoying every minute of the ride! This is the first year that the program is vying for a national title at the event, which takes place March 25-26 in Anaheim, California.
Traditionally, Texas State has competed in January before the semester began. But after learning how to balance winter sports and any new obstacles thrown its way, the team is ready to introduce the Bobcats to the USA Collegiate Championships!
Not only are the Bobcats heading into this competition as first-timers, but they are also making their small coed debut!
"Traditionally we have an excellent large coed game-day squad and a competition all-girl squad," TSU spirit coordinator Shaina Mayberry said. "This year we held a second tryout in November to bring out the best competitors from each team."
You can also watch Texas State represent in the group stunt and coed stunt competitions! The all-girl group placed eighth at UCA College Nationals in January, and it is heading back out on the mat with hopes of taking home the top spot! The Bobcats have added more difficulty and polished up skills that they have been preparing for months!
