The University of Minnesota Upholds Game Day Tradition!
Competing in the first-ever Game Day competition, the University of Minnesota D1A Coed team took home 2nd, while All Girl placed 4th!
“Ski-u-mah!” a traditional cheer meaning “victory” has been a part of the University of Minnesota’s school spirit since the 1800s. And this cheer isn’t the only longstanding tradition that stands out about the Gophers…
Johnny Campbell was the world’s first cheerleader, leading gopher fans in an organized cheer “Rah, Rah, Rah! Ski-u-mah, Hoo-Rah! Hoo-Rah! Varsity! Varsity! Varsity, Minn-e-So-Tah” in 1898. Fast forward to today - the Minnesota cheerleading team still upholds tradition with superior spirit.
