Ponderosa High Brings The Passion To Small Varsity Jazz

P2.jpg

Ponderosa High School started the morning off strong with a memorable performance in Small Varsity Jazz Prelims at the 2018 UDA National Dance Team Championship.

Competing in both the Small Varsity Jazz and Pom Divisions, the Mustangs returned to Orlando with the hopes having another top ten finish at the championship.

Every year, the team sets a goal for their choreography to 'make an impression' and be unique. Typically Ponderosa performs a dance with a meaning or storyline to the choreography, and this year is no exception. With such intricate choreography, it's incredible to see the amazing technique  this team is still able to maintain throughout their difficult skills and turn sequence.

Coach Ottmann told Varsity TV, "Our slogan this year is 'Power of Passion' and I believe this team will do everything it takes to showcase their personal best."

The girls look forward to the championship every year knowing they will be competing along side the best of the best at NDTC. The championship is the perfect 'bow to end the season', as Ponderosa likes to say.

Be sure to tune in tonight at 1:46 PM ET to watch Ponderosa's Semi-Finals routine in Arena South and see if they advance on to the finals Sunday!

Most cheerleaders and dancers join a team at a young age just looking for a hobby or an afterschool activity. But after years of practicing, conditioning, long game days, and competition weekends, these athletes look back on the hours spent with their teammates and realize that cheer and dance taught them a lot more than just the skills they learned on the mat.
