South Bay Cheer 360 Takes On USA All Star

Anaheim, California, will be the hot spot for cheerleaders and dancers around the country as teams take on the 2018 USA All Star Championships this weekend, March 17-18!

South Bay Cheer 360 out of Torrance, California, doesn't have to travel far for the championship, and they're excited to take the mat at USA for the third time in program history. The gym has progressed each year and they’re looking to perform even better in 2018.

“The focus of our program has been to produce quality athletes with strong technical foundations, particularly in tumbling and stunting," said Katie Kaoupa, South Bay's coach. “At 360 we are focused on being clean and crisp, safe progressions and building the strength and flexibility required to keep our athletes safe in this challenging sport.”

South Bay Cheer 360 will be bringing six teams to the 2018 USA All Star Championship, and they are looking forward to another successful year in Anaheim. Coach Kaoupa says the team's formations and timing are what stands out the most on stage.

“I feel very proud of what we are putting on the floor," she said. “Our athletes have made a lot of progress on their technique and our flyer program has also made a lot of gains this season.”

The gym has had an incredible year so far with only one challenge: simply getting the athletes to leave the gym once practice was over! Their dedicated athletes love practice and want to stay in the gym to keep improving.

“We have been very fortunate this season with the athletes and families at our gym. I couldn’t be happier!”

Although the all star season is coming to a close in a couple months, South Bay Cheer 360 still has goals in mind to reach first! The program is striving to reach their full potential and hopes to receive a bid this weekend to the D2 Summit.

“This is a competition where we get to see the best of the best from all over and we also know every local reputable gym will be there," Kaoupa added. “There are bids to be won, and we want to be one of the gyms to get one or four!”
