Eaglecrest Cheer Is Ready To Take On UCA Mile High!

Eaglecrest Cheer has been participating at the UCA & UDA Mile High Championship for over 25 years and has accumulated around 20 regional titles.

The Raptors are making the trip back to Denver this weekend with the hopes of continuing their championship success.

This year, three teams will take the mat representing Eaglecrest. Their Freshmen team will take the mat in Small Junior Varsity, their JV team will compete in the Large Junior Varsity division and their Medium Varsity team will be competing in the Game Day division as well as their traditional two and half minute performance routine.

Each year, Eaglecrest places a big focus on having a very clean style. “One of our strengths this year is having the difficulty in our stunts while maintaining a focus on the details and execution of our skills,” explained Head Coach Alisha Chiarelli.

This season the Raptor’s open their routine with strong team tumbling and transition right into their stunt sequence that features high to highs. “It’s a quick paced routine and overall the execution and synchronization of our skills combined with our difficulty definitely makes us stand out,” added Chiarelli.

A signature part of Eaglecrest’s routine this year is their “Raptor Spell Out” in the cheer.

“It’s a part of what we do at home at our games. Our crowd joins in and loves it and it’s a part of our tradition that you’ll see integrated into the cheer at all levels of our program.”

“For several years this was one of the biggest regional competitions in the country,” explained Chiarelli. “Mile High is an event that we are looking forward to and work toward every year. We build our routine around the UCA score sheet with a focus on obtaining a bid and trying to get the best feedback we can to prepare for nationals.”

“This year Colorado cheer, in general, is better than it’s ever been before and we are excited to be a part of that and represent cheer from this region of the county.”

Raptor Cheer earned 5th place at NHSCC in 2018, their highest placement ever and went straight through to Finals for their first time in program history. This year we are bringing the best routine that our program has ever had and our goal is to make it to Finals again this year,” explained Chiarelli.
