Making History: Alabama Dance

The University of Alabama Dance Team is continuing to make history at the 2019 UCA & UDA College Nationals!

The University of Alabama Dance Team put on an incredible performance in both the DIA Hip Hop and DIA Jazz divisions that secured them a spot in Finals!

This is the first year since 2007 that the team made Finals in both of the divisions at UCA & UDA College Nationals. Last year, Alabama made finals in the DIA Hip Hop division for the first time since 2010, and this weekend, the Crimson Tide made the Finals roster for the first time since 2007 in the DIA Jazz division.

“This is unreal! I think it was our passion this year and coming together that helped us secure a spot in Finals.” Said Senior Peyton Sides. "When we were on stage we were breathing as one and that intensity was definitely read by the audience.”

Alabama competed in the DIA Jazz final competition earlier this morning and will compete in the DIA Hip Hop division at 1:58 PM ET. This year the team has a unique “Barbie” theme to their Hip Hop routine!

“In the past, Alabama has been looked at as the ‘pretty girls’ with the sparkly costumes and long hair, so we thought it would be cool to do a ‘Hip Hop Barbie’ theme to show everyone that we are talented also!”

The University of Alabama Dance Team is continuing to become stronger and stronger and we can’t wait to see them take the stage in the DIA Hip Hop final competition!
