Australian Program To Bring 5 Teams To Spirit Sports

Every year, Oxygen All Stars has made plans to travel from their home in New South Wales, Australia to the United States to compete. Although they love competing on local turf and Australia is full of fabulous events and teams, the gym thrives off competing against the best of the best in America.

This weekend, Oxygen All Stars is bringing 5 teams to Palm Springs, California to compete against America’s top teams at Spirit Sports: Duel In The Desert.

The Australian program has an impressive competition history and they’re sure to bring their A-game to the mat this weekend. With the exception of The Cheerleading Worlds in 2018, Oxygen has placed in the top 3 at every international competition they have attended.

Oxygen attended The Cheerleading Worlds for the first time in 2018 and competed in the Level 5 Senior Small Coed division.

“We went in strong and worked our way through heats and were just knocked out in Semis,” explained Oxygen Coach Courtney Turton. “Worlds was an event that taught our athletes and staff so much about cheerleading. It was an experience we will cherish forever. The teams, athletes, coaches and gym owners we met here so welcoming. We have created friendships across the globe we will cherish forever.”

At Spirit Sports: Duel In The Desert, Oxygen hopes all five teams finish in the top 3. They also have goals to gain summit Bids and walk away with their athletes feeling like they have accomplished their own personal goals and team goals.

“Spirit Sports is an important event to our gym because it attracts programs from across the USA that many of our athletes look up to.”

The program says their strengths are their standing tumbling and their ability to balance executing a clean routine while keeping the choreography fun and creative.

“When you see an Oxygen routine, they are confident, athletic, clean, strong and they perform skills with a focus on showing the execution the judges desire,” explained Turton. “Every Oxygen routine has a hidden fun element. Not everyone can see them but if you do it will make you laugh or smile. “
