The 2019 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship is the biggest it’s ever been! Eastside Middle School from Mount Washington, Kentucky amazes the crowd every year with their incredible difficulty and perfectly executed routines. This year, the team is dominating once again in the Small Junior High division.
Eastside Middle took the mat in the preliminary round at 1:08 PM ET in Arena North and they hit, yet again, a nearly perfect routine! They had an incredibly packed routine from top to bottom, and all 16 athletes took the mat with pure confidence.

The three-time national champions are taking the mat with number four in mind and these middle school ladies have what it takes. Take a look at their step-by-step routine breakdown from the 2019 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship!
Eastside Middle School Routine Breakdown
The team started their routine with four switch up full ups to immediate scorpions. The top girls showed off their confidence by holding up the number 4 in their body positions. The groups transitioned into a power press low lib into a kick full dismount.
Eastside moved into a jumps to standing tuck sequence starting off their standing tumbling section. Eastside showcased their tumbling difficulty by throwing five standing two-to-fulls. After landing the standing tumbling, every member on the team threw up a number “1” as they transitioned into their next section.
The junior high team then lined up 4 groups that threw SOLID front-handspring full ups to the back, immediately followed by one and a half arounds to immediate lib. The groups dismounted with a 360 to the ground moving directly into more amazing tumbling!
Seven cartwheel tucks tumbled to the outsides of the mat, clearing the floor for six strong running fulls to the front of the floor. The girls quickly transitioned into their pyramid section!
The two inside groups spun to the top by showcasing jaw dropping front one and a half ups to immediate lib. The two outside shoulder sits and inside prep braced the two inside top girls, showing a solid hit to the top. The team then transitioned into their cheer!
Eastside kicked off their cheer with five standing tucks. Two groups threw front handspring ups to extension from the back while three girls led the crowd from shoulder sits in the front, showing great crowd coverage and levels on the mat.
The team led the crowd with blue and white signs while transitioning to hands full arounds and shoulder stands.
The traditional “Whose Side? Eastside!” cheer took over the Arena as the team brought incredible energy to the front of the mat.
After completing the cheer, four groups did round off ups from the back to immediate bow and arrows, once again showing off their flexibility.
Their high energy and fun dance transitioned them right into their final pyramid.
The two inside groups started the pyramid off with back handspring ups to immediate libs braced by the outside preps. The two groups then power pressed to low full around tick tocks to immediate hitches connecting the whole picture-perfect pyramid.
The team, along with their coaches celebrated after they hit a solid, zero deduction routine!
