Hawaiian Heat Training Center is headed north this weekend to compete at the 2019 PacWest Nationals for the first time in program history.

Two teams from Hawaiian Heat are traveling to Oregon with the hopes of earning championship titles and bids to The D2 Summit in Orlando, FL.

If you tune in to Varsity TV to watch the championship live, you can watch Hawaiian Heat Wildfire in the Youth Level 1 division and Inferno in the Junior Level 1 division.

“This will be our team’s first time in Oregon for competition. We’ve heard great things about the PacWest competition and are excited to showcase what the Hawaiian Islands are about!”

The program has had a strong season so far and they are hoping to continue their success with two big wins at PacWest. Two weeks ago, Hawaiian Heat won 1st place at the Athletics Championship in Honolulu as well as the Innovative Choreography Award.

This year, Hawaiian Heat has stepped up their choreography with clean stunts and tumbling.

“Our strategy this season is to hit clean routines that are high in difficulty,” explained Head Coach Candice-Renee Palacio Carrillo. “Our choreography has many intricate and fun layers. We hope to share the Aloha Spirit of Hawaii through our routines as we’ve added the Hawaiian language in one of our routine’s music.”

She also added that the athletes love to perform the dance and pyramid sections of their routines the most.

Two teams from Hawaiian Heat have already earned bids to The D2 Summit 2019 but the program is hoping to head back to Oahu with two more bids from PacWest Nationals.
