Prep Teams Kicking Off USA All Star!

The morning opened up with some amazing prep teams at the 2019 UCA All Star Championship!

The first team took the mat this morning bright and early at 8:00 AM. The Prep divisions kicked off the competition at the 2019 USA All Star Championship and there’s definitely something special about these teams!

“I think the age group really makes this division awesome!” Said coach Kayla Leon from Almaden Spirit Athletics Coral. “You get to leave such an impact on these younger kids, and it’s so fun to watch them grow.”

The Prep division opens up the world of competitive all star cheerleading to these athletes and it allows them to prepare for what’s to come ahead of them. Although these teams aren’t competing for a bid, it still gives them the opportunity to develop into great athletes!

“Before this team takes the floor we mainly tell them just to have fun,” said Leon. “The purpose of them being here is to get that experience and enjoy it!”

The age group on the Level 1.1 Mini Prep team, Coral, ranges from five years old to nine. Learning about all star cheer is a fun time for these younger athletes, and this division will definitely set them up for success in the future.

“On this team, they’re learning the basics and just how to perform so that when they move on to a more elite level they’re prepared.” -Kayla Leon

Even though these teams don’t receive placements, they still have goals set within their team! “We always want to hit zero.” Said Leon. “Sometimes that doesn’t happen, but as long as they’re out there having fun, that’s what we’re going for!”

The drive and dedication seen in the prep teams today was incredible, and we can’t wait to see these kids develop into amazing athletes! The weekend is only getting started, so stay tuned to Varsity TV for exciting news, results updates and LIVE competition coverage!
