Spirit Squads Will Shine In The NCA & NDA College Game Day Divisions!

Collegiate spirit squads brought the game day atmosphere to the Bandshell in the first-ever game day divisions at the 2018 NCA & NDA College National Championship.

In 2018, NC State University and Tarleton State University took home the first-ever NCA & NDA College Game Day titles.

This year, the Game Day divisions return and 19 spirited schools will take the stage to show off their favorite school traditions.

The Game Day Divisions provide a unique and exciting opportunity for school Spirit Programs to work together to showcase their ability to promote school spirit and excitement in support of their school and its athletic teams. This division not only allows the use of traditional sideline cheer and dance teams but also the incorporation of members of the school Marching Band, Pep Band, Drum Line, Mascot(s), Spirit Group/Club, etc.

During the championship, teams will perform their school's traditional fight song, a band chant section, and a crowd-leading section. Participants are encouraged to use signs, flags, megaphones, and poms to encourage the crowd to cheer along.

The preparation for the championship started at NCA & NDA College Spirit Camp this summer when spirit squads prepared and perfected their game day skills and performances

Each performance is limited to three minutes and should include skills that influence crowd participation.

Teams will be evaluated on their ability to lead the crowd, proper game day skill incorporations, execution of skills, motion technique, and the overall routine impression. For more information on the new Game Day Divisions, click here.
