The Energizers Dance Team is known for their incredible performances and top placements every year in the Pom category. The Hartford, Wisconsin team creates unique visuals through uniforms, music, and choreography that entertains the crowd and earns them championship titles.

This year, the Open Pom team from EDT has a new theme and fans are loving it!

“We went with something a little bit more abstract, something that we really want to tell everybody that we are here to own it,” explained EDT Owner, Shelia Trost. “We are here to show how we do it our way, it’s what we do best and it’s something that our program is all in on.”

The Energizers Open Pom theme is “Our House” and the routine features multiple house visuals and songs to bring the theme to life.

The Energizers are known for having bright uniforms and a creative routine so Trost wanted to make sure she kept fans on their toes when watching the routine this season. Their Open Pom routine has a Hip Hop style and vibe incorporated throughout.

“We really tried to look at the scoresheet and try and keep our routines ‘not predictable,” shared Trost. “We trained hard in all genres; Ballet, Jazz, Hip hop, and pom. We are even competiting Hip Hop this season.”  

“We want to be very versatile and show that we are more than just Pom dancers, all though Pom is our house and it’s on.”

Pom is all about the visuals you can create, and the Energizers give you those pictures throughout. Suddenly the athletes are making a house with their bodies, and the next moment you see them forming a house with their poms.

The Groove Experience is EDT’s first competition as a program and Trost his happy with the way her athletes performed.

“I think there are definitely things we can improve on, but I’m really pleased,” Trost shared. “There really weren’t any mistakes, we could be a little crisper and a little cleaner but overall the response from the crowd was really exciting.”
