Spotlight Studios Lighting Up Calgary
Spotlight Studios Lighting Up Calgary
Spotlight Studios has traveled across the northern border to test their skills against some of Canada’s finest at PAC Battle of Champions.
This weekend at PAC Battle of Champions in Calgary, Canada, there is a sea of Canadian talent ready to duel for top spots and bids to premier postseason events. There is no shortage of exciting competitors, and the event will be a genuine spectacle.
Every team will be looking for their way to stand out and deliver memorable performances that leave a lasting impression. The lone program from the United States attending the event has prepared and is ready to leave their mark.
Spotlight Studios, from Hayden, Idaho, has traveled across the northern border to test their skills against some of Canada’s finest. Stacey Rae Steinwandel, Owner and Head Coach told us that they are thrilled to be representing for the United States.
“We are so proud to be representing USA, what a blessing for our kids from our small hometown in Idaho!”
It is a unique and fun opportunity for the program to compete against teams that they wouldn’t normally see.
Steinwandel noted that the chance to be with these teams goes well beyond the competition mat, saying, “The exposure to this competition truly broadens how our athletes experience the sport!”
Competing against programs from another country, she hopes the athletes will gain valuable experience to help grow their love for All Star.
It is definitely not hard to find the Spotlight program at the event, as their name implies. They can be seen sporting bright orange attire and will even be donning light up bows on the mat this weekend.
“We chose our gym name because of the concept of focusing attention on the skill being performed – ‘the spotlight shining brightly upon the floor where great performances happen,” shared Steinwandel.
They utilize every aspect of their performance to grab the attention of the crowd and the judges. Their hope is to exude joy with their colors and their routines and to get the audience and judges to share in that joy. She added, “if our colors don’t make you sit up in the stands, the bows bring even more show to the Spotlight teams!”
Coming from a small town in Idaho, the importance of this event cannot be understated. Steinwandel told us that it is no simple task to get her teams into competition with formidable opponents. She told us:
“Our region requires us to travel extreme distances to compete at this level, and traveling to Calgary is actually less driving than events in our nation. We are beyond proud to say that we have represented [PAC] multiple seasons at The Summit and are truly blessed by the memories we’ve created here season after season”
Crossing the border to compete at Varsity events is still a relatively new concept, and Spotlight Studios is taking full advantage of the opportunity in front of them to compete at a high level.
Be sure to check out the bright and vibrant Spotlight Studios as they take on some Canadian powerhouse programs this weekend in Calgary.
