Kittitas High School from Kittitas, Washington took on NCA High School Nationals for the very first time this year! The team competed in the Small Varsity Game Day division and had a blast performing their game day traditions on the mat.

Head coach Rebecca Posz-Tamez started coaching two years ago and wanted to give her team a shot at something special!

“I thought the competition would be fun for us!” said Posz-Tamez. “We tried our first competition last year, and we went to an NCA camp this summer. We received a bid to go to nationals at camp, and we thought what an amazing opportunity that would be!”

Coach Posz-Tamez was right and the athletes have had an incredible experience at the 2020 NCA High School Nationals. The competition wasn’t what the team was expecting!

“The competition was much bigger than the athletes expected,” said Posz-Tamez. “They were shocked when they walked in and saw how big it was. They have also set goals for growth while being here this weekend!”

After experiencing NCA High School Nationals for the first time, the team already has a few goals in mind for the future. They did an awesome job this year, but they want to come back even better!

“More than anything we just wanted to experience this weekend and have fun,” said Posz-Tamez. “We wanted to start the program and give them this opportunity that they never would have had!”

The team did just that this weekend and it’s the start of an incredible program at Kittitas High School! Coach Rebecca Posz-Tamez is more than pleased with how her team did this weekend, and she’s excited for the future of this program.

“I’m super proud of them,” said Posz-Tamez. “I know that they’ve worked really hard, and this is a brand new team. We only have two girls from last year’s competition team and everyone else is brand new!”
