6 Spirited Teams Win The Go Be Great Award At The NCA Houston Classic
This weekend at the 2022 NCA Houston Classic, six spirited programs were recognized as they received the prestigious Go Be Great award.
NCA presents the Go Be Great Award to programs that go above and beyond the world of cheerleading to make the world a better place in their own community—outside the four walls of their school building. This award is presented to programs from across the country that NCA feels surpasses the requirements.
This weekend at the 2022 NCA Houston Classic, six spirited programs were recognized as they received the prestigious Go Be Great award. These programs went above and beyond in their community and exemplified characteristics that show leadership on and off the mat.
Grapevine Faith Christian School
The athletes at Grapevine Faith Christian School created 20 Operation Christmas Child boxes and provided over 50 backpacks and school supplies to Community Storehouse in Keller. They also provide 25 lunches and snacks to King Street Mobile Home Park.
Episcopal School
Episcopal School participated in the Candlelighters Walk in September which supports children and families affected by pediatric cancer. They also sold hundreds of Knights Fight Gold shirts to raise money for A Shelter for Cancer families.
Seven Lakes High School
The Spartans created "Smile Bags" that could be given to St. Judge patients and did a "Go for Gold" football game in September to raise awareness for St. Jude.
Rockwall High School
The athletes from Rockwall High School collected 150 cases of water for First Responders, 250 Thanksgiving food basket donations, sent 250 Christmas cards to Veterans who are awaiting service dogs through Patriot Paws and represent the cheer team through individual projects.
John Jay High School
John Jay Cheer donated seven Thanksgiving baskets to the Mustang Giving Baskets. Each basket was decorated and packed by the cheerleaders. The baskets will be donated to families in our community who needed help providing a Thanksgiving dinner in their homes.
St. Anthony Catholic School
St. Anthony Catholic School participated in campus clean up, the Archdiocese Fun Run, and the Chrysalis Event which supports families of imprisoned/impoverished parents. They also performed a ‘Jackets for Jacket’ Fundraiser to collect donated jackets for those in need during the winter.
