The new Arena at the ESPN Wide World of Sports® Complex was the perfect setting for teams to show off how hard they worked during practices leading up to UCA College Nationals!

Once again, the Coed DI championship title went home to the Eagles from Morehead State University for the 27th time. This is their 4th consecutive win and the team hit an incredibly difficult routine in their Finals performance.

One of MSU's team leader's, Dustin Velazquez, is proud of the routine they put together this year saying, “We spun every elite we threw in the routine.” When it comes to the mentality of the Morehead cheerleaders, there is always a leader. Dustin said, “My goal was to challenge the team and I felt I accomplished my goal as a leader to challenge them mentally and physically while putting out a great routine!”

Morehead opened up with back handspring full ups flowing straight into five diamodov extended hand in hands. The difficulty of this routine was one of the hardest in Morehead history!

The team is constantly working on their skills in their practice room to continue the legacy of Myron Doan who started with the program in 1979. His desire for perfection started his dynasty wins in 1988!

Morehead has a saying that helps keep their eyes on the prize, “Hard work + Dedication = Winning Tradition” and this year was no different as they claimed their 45th program win.

The #DoanDynasty lives on through the current athletes and the alumni who support the program each year from helping with tryouts to visiting the town of Morehead during nationals’ practices.
