Game days in Yorba Linda, California, are a celebration of community, school pride, and Mustang spirit. At the heart of that energy are the cheer and song squads—bringing the rhythm, excitement, and signature Mustang spirit to every game. They are taking that same passion from the field to the national stage as they prepare to compete at the National School Spirit Championships this February. We are fortunate that our dancers and cheerleaders work closely together for all school spirit events. The ability to compete in the new National School Spirit Championships provides us with the opportunity to showcase what we do week after week at games, assemblies, and school events!

How Do You Incorporate Cheer and Dance To Show School Spirit?

Our cheer and song (dance) squads practice side by side nearly every practice. Although we are not always practicing the same material, the side-by-side format gives us the opportunity to practice together for things like pregame routines or assembly performances that we do together.

Favorite Game Day Tradition:

Our favorite game day tradition would most likely be our pregame dinners where both varsity cheer and varsity song (dance) get together and bond before the game.

What Makes Yorba Linda High School Special?

The connection between the cheer and song (dance) squads at YLHS is truly unique. The athletes and coaches work hand in hand to create school spirit and deliver memorable performances that bring the community together. In fact, over half of the student body participates in athletics, making school pride a shared experience across campus.

Favorite Game Day Memory?

One of our favorite game day memories was cheering in the pouring rain a couple of years ago. It was one of our most high-spirit moments. We were all in the rain together, and it was a strong bonding moment of great happiness.
