The America’s Best Grand Nationals crew returns to KC and the Kansas City Convention Center for two action-packed days of elite cheer competition, and all of the excitement will be broadcast live on Varsity TV!
America’s Best Grand Nationals is the third of five events on the organization’s 2025-2026 schedule and will share the weekend spotlight with the America’s Best Indy Challenge, which will take place in Westfield, Indiana, on Dec. 13.
At America’s Best, and especially at Grand Nationals, the goal is to be the best at whatever you do, and the organization will be there to recognize the best when it comes to skills, performances, grades in school, community service and more. There’s even recognition for the fans!
All competitors will go home with a custom, commemorative medal, while winners will earn special champion jackets.

What To Know About The Kansas City Convention Center
For some competitors and their guests, this visit to the Kansas City Convention Center will find them in familiar territory, while the convenient location and cheer-friendly venue will allow everyone to focus on the competition.
Though the Kansas City-America’s Best relationship is just beginning, the property has a long and storied history that began in 1899, followed by the building of the Municipal Auditorium in 1934.
Almost 100 years later, the area frequently is bustling with activity and events, and the Auditorium now includes an arena, exhibition hall, music hall and theatre – all the things required to host a variety of events, games and competitions – from cheerleading to basketball to car shows to political conventions.
The complex includes a 388,000 square-foot exhibit hall, conference center, ballroom, meeting rooms and a nearby outdoor plaza. Learn more about all the components HERE or take a virtual tour.

Downtown Kansas City is filled with great hotel options that are walkable from the competition venue, along with public transportation and pride in providing hassle-free experiences for visitors.
Things To Do In Kansas City, Missouri
Travel in and out of Kansas City, Missouri, is easy. Staying downtown and walking to the convention center also is a convenient possibility.
If that’s the chosen option, there certainly won’t be any shortage of things to do for entertainment or places to enjoy the memorable KC cuisine.

Even though downtown Kansas City may be familiar to the cheer teams and their guests by now, things are always changing, growing or moving in. Or, there’s just so much going on that one or two visits still isn’t long enough to really enjoy it all.
There are many museums (American Jazz, Arabia Steamboat, National WWI, Negro Leagues Baseball Museum), galleries and theatres, the T-Mobile Center for a variety of concerts and shows or places to learn about the area’s history and culture.
Football fans are in luck this year, too, as the Chiefs WILL be in town at the same time as the America’s Best Grand Nationals. The Chiefs will host the Los Angeles Chargers at Geha Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Dec. 14 at noon Central.
For those who prefer college sports to the pros, there’s a place nearby called the College Basketball Experience that’s connected to the T-Mobile Center.
The CBE celebrates the history of college basketball and allows hoops fans to put themselves in a variety of basketball situations, work on their shooting and rebounding or take in the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame, which occupies a third of the building.
If there’s time to leave the downtown area, you’ll find many of the usual things that help make any time on the road more fun and comfortable.

Then, it’ll probably be time to eat, and KC is simply delicious!
The area is known for BBQ, particularly, burnt ends – bite-size morsels of the area’s culinary history and diversity. It’s also a great area for some steak – a delicious Kansas City strip steak is a can’t-miss.

The Varsity Cheer League
The Varsity Cheer League is the official ranking system for the sport of All Star cheerleading, changing the conversation from “Who won the weekend?” to “Who ranks at the top this season?”
Every all star elite team in Youth, Junior, and Senior divisions will be included in the Varsity Cheer League.
Team rankings are determined by the point system displayed here.
At each Varsity All Star event your team completes, your team will earn points based on the assigned event and placement point value.
At the end of the season, your six best Varsity All Star event scores will be used to calculate your final rank.
In total, 92 winners will be recognized from first to third place across each region.
One champion will be crowned in each of the five regions across the six eligible divisions and two League 6 conferences. Champions will win cash and prizes!
