Same great event, same beautiful weather – new location for 2025!

While Orlando, Florida, and the Orange County Convention Center both are familiar destinations for elite cheer and dance events, there will be one more on the calendar this year, as the Universal Cheerleaders Association Florida Regional moves over from nearby Lakeland, Florida.

It’s a small shift for the UCA Florida Regional in 2025, but it also means a bustling weekend at the OCCC, which will be hosting the Spirit Cheer Dance Grand Nationals & Cheer Nationals on Dec. 13-14.

The 2025 UCA event, one of five UCA competitions scheduled for the week, will take over the property’s West Building, with school cheer teams enjoying the spotlight, and all of the action being broadcast live on Varsity TV!

Founded in 1974 to provide educational training for cheerleaders and grow cheerleading into a combination of athleticism, high energy and entertainment, UCA now trains more than 180,000 cheerleaders every summer.

There’s also the busy UCA schedule and variety of competition locations that help add to the five decades of UCA tradition.

The Florida Regional is one of almost 50 regional events facilitated across the country each year by UCA, along with the annual UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship at Walt Disney World, also in Orlando.

By having so many options, teams are able to compete close to home, and maybe more frequently, while keeping expenses down during their quest to qualify for the season-ending events.

What To Know About The Orange County Convention Center

The Orange County Convention Center is in the heart of one of the nation’s most amazing tourism districts and welcomes nearly 200 events each year, bringing more than 1.5 million visitors.

It definitely doesn’t hurt that there are countless things to do in the area, endless hotel options, amazing food and drink nearby and incredible weather almost every day of the year.

The facility includes 7 million square feet of space across two buildings – the West Building and North-South Building. Both feature exhibit space, meeting rooms, breakout rooms and thousands of parking spaces. The West Building also has a ballroom, theatre and lecture hall. Each building has four food courts for hungry guests.

Things To Do In Orlando, Florida

By now, the cheer teams and their families and friends probably could lead a tour or put together a pretty unforgettable itinerary for a trip to Orlando, as so many top-tier cheer events have been held in the area in recent years.

Orlando is home to Walt Disney World, among other amazing theme parks, and many are just minutes from the Orange County Convention Center.

Potential agenda additions include four theme parks at Walt Disney World – Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and EPCOT – and many areas for shopping, eating, learning about Central Florida history, catching some waves or a sporting event, or just spending time together doing something new.

Lakeland is a delightful spot in Central Florida that offers a friendly feel but also is close to some of the state’s better-known and iconic cities, including Tampa, St. Petersburg, Jacksonville, St. Augustine and even Fort Lauderdale.

As the name would imply, Lakeland features several lakes, great weather and every reason to get outside and enjoy gardens, hiking, parks and preserves – even a 260-acre Safari Wilderness Ranch. There also are museums, farms, fishing, golf, many sports teams and Legoland!
