UCA Staff's Top 5 Tips For Camp Success

Going to cheer camp is an exciting experience that is truly like no other. Camp is full of non-stop energy where the most important rule is to have fun while learning new skills and material that your team can take back home to impress your fans in the stands.

With all of that going on, it can be overwhelming. So, stay calm because the UCA Staff have put together their top 5 tips for camp success!

 1. Be Energetic

To make the most of your UCA Camp experience, bring your ENERGY and keep your team's morale HIGH! The cheerleaders that stand out are the ones in front of the stage, having fun and ready to learn!

Pro Tip:  Bringing your TOP energy will give you that extra advantage to win the TOP Banana.

2. Be A Sponge

At UCA Camp, you never stop learning! From first-year members to fourth-year members, it is important to “absorb” everything. From Game Day Cheer Class to Stunt Class to the Friday Night Lights Frenzy, everyone has an important role and there’s always something to learn.

Pro Tip: First-year members, pay attention to your veterans and their leadership style. Soon you will learn which type of leader you will want to become!

3. Break Out Of Your Shell

At the start of camp, you might be distracted and overwhelmed with all of the excitement, but don’t let that stop you from breaking out of your shell! Make sure to meet other teams and really get to know them. You never know who a new friend could be, or even a future college roommate!

Pro Tip: While you are waiting for camp to start, walk around and meet other teams!

4. Bond With Your Team

Before camp, most teams aren’t together long enough to truly get to know one another. This is why camp is the perfect time for team bonding! The staff will offer bonding exercises, but it is important to have more bonding time after camp each night! Getting to know your teammates will help you succeed and have a successful, enjoyable season!

Pro Tip: To help the new members feel comfortable, teach them your team traditions and to really bond!

 5. Get To Know The Staff

The staff is so excited to work with all of you! We want you to succeed at camp and after camp! Come to us with any questions, we are here to help you grow in all of your roles as a cheerleader.

Pro Tip: Ask your big brother or big sister questions about themselves to get to know them!

With these tips, your camp experience is sure to be a success. The life-long memories and skills you take home, will be ones you cherish forever!
