After just missing out on a national championship in 2024, the University of Nevada-Las Vegas dance team found redemption at the 2025 UCA/UDA College Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championship.

And the team was able to double down – because, Las Vegas – and add a second title in the Division IA Game Day competition. The same scenario unfolded in 2023.

The Rebel Girls & Company will put the titles on the line this month at the 2026 UCA/UDA College Nationals, which will be streamed live on Varsity TV from Jan. 16-18.

As has become tradition, the competition will take place at the iconic ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.

The dance portion of the weekend will feature three categories – jazz, hip hop and pom – plus game day action across three classifications. 

The UNLV squad is no stranger to success, having claimed six DIA Hip Hop championships and six DIA Game Day titles.

Before we see what the Rebel Girls & Company have in store for us in 2026, let’s take a look at some things to know about the UNLV dance team ahead of the group taking the stage at the next edition of UDA College Nationals.

About The UNLV Dance Team – The UNLV Rebel Girls & Company

Like most collegiate dance teams and spirit squads, the UNLV Rebel Girls & Company are active in more than just Universal Dance Association competition. 

They also perform at the school’s football games and basketball games, work as ambassadors for the school, perform at school and community events – and still find time for other competitions and preparing for the national championships in Florida. 

Additionally, since breaking through with the team’s first national title in 2013, the squad has been busy with many other high-profile opportunities. 

The list includes representing the United States at the International Cheer Union World Championships and winning gold medals in 2022, 2023 and 2025. 

The team also has appeared on America’s Got Talent, performed at games for the NBA Summer League, the USA Sevens Rugby Tournament, the Las Vegas Aces (WNBA), Las Vegas Raiders (NFL), Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix Opening Ceremony and recent Super Bowl festivities. 

UNLV Rebel Girls & Company Won Their First National Title In 2013

The UNLV Rebel Girls & Company won their first national in 2013, and they’ve been among the favorites every year since.

The breakthrough win came in Division IA Hip Hop, and they topped the category again in 2016, 2018, 2019, 2023 and 2025.

The team’s first Division IA Game Day national championship was claimed in 2018, followed by 2019, 2020, 2021 (virtual), 2023 and 2025.

The potential hip-hop three-peat was thwarted in 2024 by LSU, which took the crown 102.0833-101.3167. The off year in the game day category was a little less dramatic, as UNLV finished fifth among the six teams in the finals.

Did You Know That The Rebel Girls & Company Went Co-Ed In 2017?

Former UNLV dancer turned head coach, Marca DeCastroverde, saw an opportunity to help creative and talented young men elevate their dance training and experience, while earning an education, and she helped turn the UNLV program co-ed in 2017.

The program was the first in the country with more than one male performer. 

Yes, there has been some negativity to deflect, but the Rebels see themselves as trendsetters, as well as national champions.

The UNLV Cheer Team Also Has Reached The Mountaintop

The UNLV cheerleaders bring enthusiasm and spirit to UNLV sporting events and activities, but they also deliver excellence and national championships, just like their dancing counterparts.

UNLV Cheer also has found success at the UCA/UDA College Nationals, picking up All Girl Division IA Game Day national titles three consecutive years from 2019 to 2021, and again in 2025.
