Today we are sharing our best tips to help backspots perfect their skills. Whether you are learning the basics or practicing an elite stunt, these tips will help backspots feel strong and confident under the stunt.
1. Build Trust With Your Top Girl
As a backspot, you should always work to make your top girl feel safe and secure in the air. From pulling up on her ankles or catching her during a dismount, your role is extra important in making sure the top girl and the stunt group as a whole feels safe and strong.
2. Be Quick To Find The Ankles
As a backspot, it's important to help your bases from start to finish. The objective is to make contact with every stunt before it's complete. Whether it's a straight-up extension, making contact with the ankles or a full up reaching around to the right to complete the skill.
3. Keep Pulling Up!
Your job isn't over until the top girl is back on the ground safely. Pull up on the tip girls ankles at the top of the stunt and resist on the dismount to help your top girl return the ground safely.
